BCPSWhat You Can Do

Classroom supplies for certain specialty classes are of greater concern, and proper ventilation becomes more critical.

In art classes, the presence of solvents, inks, paints, and firing kilns can negatively impact IAQ.

Science classrooms can contain acids, solvents, compressed gasses, and biological products.

Vocational classes may require the presence of fuels, paints, adhesives, and solvents. Any soldering or welding activities could also present an IAQ impact.

Teachers in these classes need to make an extra effort to minimize the exposure of volatile contents to the air and ensure proper ventilation such as hoods.
